Gladys Darling,

Links:

Everything is gloomy and dreary here now — about all we can see is rain and more rain. We are all pretty disappointed because we’ll probably be here another month before we can move out. We were hoping to get out this past week but no soap. So now all we have to do is sit here in this hell hole and sweat out rain and mud. All of our equipment has been moved out so we have no mess hall, no lights, no showers. What a life! Boy, I’m telling you — this is really the kind of living that makes a fellow appreciate home. When I get back I want to be able to sit in the front room and listen to the rain and laugh because I’m not getting wet. Darling, be wise and don’t ever join the Army. I haven’t anything of interest to write about and imagine that I must by needs close this thing so that you can get some rest cause I know it must be awfully boring.

I miss you so very much and it is impossible to tell you how much I love you cause that is very, very much.

By the way, I didn’t get mail today and I don’t like it. I think most of the incoming and outgoing mail got messed up or lost so I don’t know what to think.

Bye for now.

All my love always,

Roland
